Appendix A is a short statement of Japanese governmental history prior to the Tokugawa Period. Appendix B is a statement of administrative developments in the Tokugawa Period. Many of the forms and practices existing in Japan today are immediate outgrowths of the Tokugawa Administration or Bakufu.
