Thus, the thesis of this monograph is that Chicanos in the United States are a colonized people. The conquest of the Mexicans, the occupation f their land and the continued oppression they have faced documents this thesis. The story that emerges is of a group of people who collectively have been losers in a society that loves only winners. I have divided the material into two parts. The first part concentrated primarily on the nineteenth century and the U.S. conquest of the Southwest, with separate chapters devoted to the four main states of the area. The second part centers around the experiences of Chicanos in the twentieth century beginning with attempts to restrict Mexican immigration and continuing to the 1970s and the growth of the movement.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Mia Karts","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":67888729981216,"sku":"USED006380350X","price":78.06,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0980\/7426\/3840\/files\/71B1ZOBdM4L.jpg?v=1792532004","url":"https:\/\/miakarts.com\/products\/occupied-america-the-chicanos-struggle-toward-liberation-006380350x-used","provider":"Miakarts Books","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
