Trozzo, Vietnam 70-71Five Stars: An outstanding, captivating story of men who served our country.  The author keeps you spellbound as the compelling story moves across America and overseas. It covers combat support missions to intelligence gathering over hostile territory and much more.  The style is so vivid, you can detect distinct smells of a country.Richard GayFive Stars:  Herb Romero did an outstanding job.  Having served in the military, I could relate to this story.  I also found I couldn't put the book down until I finished reading.H. Larrabee From the Author I am an American descendent of original Spaniard colonists who in 1598, settled in present day Southwest USA.  Therefore, I was completely surprised, when I discovered how members of a radical Mexican-American (MECHA) group, have been calling themselves, 'Chicano' ever since the sixties. Since then, they have been heavily entrenched in our universities, free to spout anti-American propaganda. The reason I write these words is that the term,Chicano was originally concocted by Mexican street gangs during the early part of the Second World War.  At that time, Mexican families came over the border in droves because of availability of defense jobs, and settled in Spanish neighborhoods. The American government welcomed these guest workers and their families with open arms at a time of need.  Some young Mexicans even volunteered to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces. The Mexican teenaged gangs did not know what to make of American born Spanish-American kids who spoke the ancient type Spanish that had been handed down thru generations, so they began calling them,Chicano.  The term was derived from the wordsChico andMexicano; meaning, small, little, and not quite a Mexican.  Page 27 of this book gives you a glimpse on this subject. However, in one of my non-fiction books titled,Smarten Up, you will find complete and full details on this subject in Chapter Twenty One.  For Mexican-Americans to call themselvesChicano is like an ass calling itself a horse.  It is a gross impossibility.  The archaic Spanish speaking American kids were called Chicano by Mexicans simply because they didn't speak Spanish like them.  As a young, naive Spanish teenager I lived through that era, and at that time, us kids thought it was real cool to be called, Chicano. From the Back Cover From traveling in Europe with his military family, to flying combat missions in Southeast Asia and cold war spying operations, Rudi Hausman faces turmoil on the home front when his wife contracts cancer.  As C-130 pilot in Vietnam, his last re-supply mission to a Special Forces fire base in the dangerous A Shau valley is vividly described.  Besides the airplane, he and part of the crew are disabled as a result of ground fire and a forced landing.  Now reclassified to non-flying duty, he gets a shocking revelation from a different kind of war under Project Krait Joy; a Special Intelligence effort developed by the National Security Agency. About the Author Herb Romero is a military retiree who spend much of his career overseas in Cold and Hot War Operations.  He presently lives in South Florida with his family.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Mia Karts","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":51959436345632,"sku":"NEW074145890X","price":19.14,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":false}],"url":"https:\/\/miakarts.com\/products\/pearls-from-many-seas-074145890x","provider":"Miakarts Books","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
