Revered by connoisseurs, malt whisky is considered by many to be the finest alcoholic drink ever created. Now Classic Malt Whisky tells you all you need to know about this celebrated drink, from the process of making it to the customs of imbibing it. Although, in a sense, the basic production is straightforward, Ian Wisniewski shows that every step of the process offers options that have a profound influence on the whisky, from the source of water to the types of barley and barrels used. Equally fascinating is the examination of the role malt whisky has played in Scottish culture, including celebrations, sporting events, wedding rituals, and the traditions of the distilleries themselves. Complete with an A-Z of brands, including brief histories and tasting notes, advice on how to serve malt scotch, and a wealth of color photos and illustrations, this is a superb companion for anyone who enjoys a wee dram or two.
