Conspiracy Within pursues the unfolding drama as each revelation becomes more real and yet more appalling. Along the way, every reader gets an insider's look at the business of the Oval Office, the powerful anchor's desk at the nation's most popular TV investigative news program, international power politics in the halls of Moscow, and the ethical dilemma that pits patriotism against high-tech weapons on a nuclear submarine.Typically, of course, vice presidents have largely ceremonial jobs, but this one realizes that little stops him from grabbing much greater and more insidious power.Alex discovers the extent of the Vice President's treachery step by step. But as the intrigue mounts, the spotlight of danger shifts directly to Alex and his girlfriend, Margot Long. With nowhere to turn but to keep charging ahead, the hazards mount as the nation faces shuddering changes. Each step of the way Alex employs his unique skeptical style, while trying to steer a course that will bring himself and Margot-and the United States-through a maelstrom of peril. Ensuing developments follow an arc of tension that hurtles toward a unique climax that will make every reader demand more Alex Milo adventures.
