Buckle up for safety because author Lisa Carney's debut, Cowboy in the City, is one hellacious ride that proves when some lines are crossed there is no going back. Passing through life in a suburban haze, Liz Casey has always seen life's responsibilities as disposable. Then she takes a job as an EMT and discovers, "This was different...This didn't even feel like a job." But just as she settles in to her new and exciting life, an international corporation buys out all the local small ambulance services in her area and merges them. Battle lines are drawn quickly when the newly installed management team declares war on the "cowboy mentality" the city medics are so famous for. Soon former rivals are forced to join together to keep their way of life alive all while busting their tails to keep you alive. It's a crazy lot and in a business where dirt bags are a dime a dozen and folks have a way of provoking even the most even-keeled paramedics, Liz Casey discovers she is drawn to the spin.
