The third edition of Neufeldt's Supervision Strategies for the First Practicum provides counseling professionals with a detailed look at the integral role supervision plays in the therapeutic process. An established expert on this topic, Neufeldt gives clear, step-by-step instruction for supervisors through a case conceptualization model and two semesters of weekly clinical training of supervisees. She emphasizes the importance of establishing an ethical and collaborative supervisory relationship in which the supervisor and supervisee can learn from each other throughout the counseling process through their observations, case conceptualizations, and personal reactions.Since publication of the second edition, Neufeldt's supervision techniques have become increasingly sophisticated and effective. In this edition, there is a greater focus on multiculturalism and new research. In addition, new activities for classroom use have been included. Basic and advanced supervision strategies are illustrated through dialogues that show supervision in action and that are designed to produce trainee growth at each developmental milestone.
