His heart aches. He pines for the love that was, and longs for a love that might be. He is alone and lonely. And so he begins a journal. Within it, he lets his thoughts and emotions flow in free-form poetic style, finding healing in the process. He writes of the past; of his lost love, their courting, their time together, and their breakup. He writes of his life now, void of love, and being so very lonely for it. And he writes of the future; of the love he hopes to find, imagining how they would meet, and how they would live and love. In writing his journal, he opens his heart and lays it bare. In reading it, one learns of a man's heart, unshielded and genuine. But the journal contains more than just the outpourings of a heart. Within the continuity of the entries there also lies a story - the story of a man's romantic life. More than a book of poetry then, The Journal is in essence and form a poetic story. It is the story of a journey through loneliness and a search for love.
