Practical, compassionate advice on cultivating our inner life. Many people today find themselves in situations with which they cannot cope. How often do we have to make decisions for which we feel we don't have enough wisdom? How often do we have overwhelming experiences? How often do we feel, if only I could be wiser or more courageous to help me deal with the events, the people, the problems, and the decisions that face me?Most of the time, we have to find our strength from within ourselves. This doesn't happen quickly, or by simply wishing for it. Evelyn Capel argues, however, that each one of us has a source of strength within ourselves: the spirit of Christ. By developing an active inner life, the spirit within us can be found and brought into our consciousness.Doing this requires thought and care, and in this inspiring book Capel offers practical and compassionate advice. She considers the rhythm of the day, as well as issues of concentration and meditation, to help the reader cultivate their inner life.
