From the Back Cover As adults, when we are hurt or defeated, life goes on somehow. We get up, brush ourselves off and continue with our lives. But how do children pick up their lives and feel safe again? How can they trust God if their own family can't keep them safe? WITH HEART DIVIDED is a fascinating look into the lives of a large farm family growing up in America's heartland in the 1940's. You meet Molly who is harboring a dark secret that she must keep hidden until she is raising her own family. If you have lost all hope of having anything good happen to you no matter how hard you try or how many self-help books you read; if you have ever been wounded to the point where you turn your back on God; feeling He has turned away, or even betrayed you, then you will feel a connection to the lives in this true story. Meet Molly and let her story bathe your soul with hope that God is real, that He certainly loves us and will not leave us even when our world falls apart. But how do children pick up their lives and feel safe again? How can they trust God if their own family can't keep them safe? What do we say to a family scarred by incest? Is there hope? Can anything good come from such evil? Do these actions and choices repeat themselves through the family or can they be stopped? How do our choices affect the outcome of our lives? Can a godly grandmother who is a prayer warrior really affect the lives of her grandchildren? WITH HEART DIVIDED addresses these questions. From the Author With Heart Divided was a difficult book to write. I was forced to look at the past as it influenced my life, my marriage, my parenting and my creativity. I did not realize how open and transparent my poetry was until I began giving programs and concerts using it. And now I write prose for myself as much as for the reader, as though explaining and illustrating life will somehow affirm the experiences. I hope you will understand it and take from it those areas that speak to you. About the Author Donna Swanson lives with her husband, John, in a little house in the Indiana woods. A Bible scholar and teacher for the last 40 years, she has mastered several areas of arts and letters. Wife, mother, grandmother; Swanson has retired now as secretary in a Christian Montessori Day School. She is currently working on illustrating and publishing a series of children's books as well as writing two weekly newspaper columns.
