Devoured Soul touches upon the emotional topic of mental abuse through the eyes of a woman who shares the details of her forced journey to self- discovery. In her riveting memoir, Myra Jackson reveals that she once viewed life so unrealistically and naively that she did not possess the ability to truly see what was in front of her. She describes her life as "trapped in hell," as she attempted to deal with a co- worker's irrational behavior, anger, and hostility - a devastating experience that transported her back to a time when her mother took out her anger on her. As she went to work every day, forced to deal with the illogical behavior, she began questioning her own rational thoughts and began realizing the impact on the mind of living in denial. As she began learning to live outside herself, removing her preconceived ideas about the world and the people she dealt with on an everyday basis, Jackson shares what she learned about life's tragedies and the infinite possibilities that lie ahead for anyone willing to view the world with both eyes open.
