Cultural Writing. Biography. Art History. Latino/Latina Studies. Translated from the Spanish by Dick Gerdes. In this English translation of the colorful recreation of the childhood and early adulthood of Mexican muralist Diego Rivera, his daughter Guadalupe Rivera Marin explores the ideological and artistic development of a revolutionary painter. Rivera Marin begins with a pivotal trip that Diego took with his father at the age of six and continues through his travels in Europe, prior to his return to Mexico, where he would later marry Frida Kahlo and found the muralist movement. Originally published in Mexico but never before available in English, DIEGO RIVERA THE RED also features portraits of significant historical, political, and artistic figures.
