In Paul M. Kelly's theatre world, character conversations become burgeoning storms of existential bonding, an urban vaudeville of entertaining actors in ever-shifting roles. The audacious and sharp comedies shackled together in Kelly's tenth book of plays, "Folderol and Other Confabulations," reflect and refract one another in a kinked glare of reality. Within the five gems that embody this collection--"Woe Betide You!," "Norman's Woe," "Maytags and Speed Queens," "Fermented," and "Folderol"--prismatic personalities make themselves immediately known and strict attention must be paid. The author's frenetic players build connections and affirmations in an agitated realm geared up for modern localism and provocative parlance. Kelly's assemblage of one-act plays ring with the subdued intensity of Beckett and the absurd angst of Ionesco. Paul Brenner, Film and Theatre Critic, Filmcritic.com
