Product DescriptionTo what extent does the presence of others affect our thoughts and actions? What do we believe when we are truly alone? Solitude is the riveting tale of diverse individuals isolated in a San Francisco seemingly void of all other human life. In the absence of others, each journeys into personal web of beliefs and perceptions as they try to determine what happened to them, and the world around them. Each of them view events differently. One suspects aliens have invaded, another believes it's a sign of Revelation and end times, some don't know what to think, and others find their minds unraveling as they struggle to cope with unimaginable events. Soon, threats both natural and supernatural leave them too busy fighting to survive in a world of strange and unpredictable events where all of the luxuries of civilization are being slowly eroded to even stop to wonder. And unless they can find each other, they will have to face it all alone, in the dark. From the AuthorI am currently working on a sequel to Solitude called "Disillusionment"Solitude was my first novel, and after literally decades of wanting to complete a work of this length, a confluence of events occurred that finally set it in motion. I had, at the time I was writing the book, recently learned that my father had been diagnosed with lung cancer. My mother had already been fighting multiple-myeloma, another type of cancer, and I was overcome with a feeling that if I didn't finish writing something while my parents were here, I would always regret it. Perfectionism always stopped me from finishing before. I am happy to say that I finished four books while I still had both my parents. My mother is in remission, but I lost my father in January 2013.About the AuthorA published poet and writer of short stories and editorials. A native Californian, she was born and spent her early childhood in Los Angeles, moving to Hawaii, where she spent her teen years, at the age of 12. She has spent most of her adult life living in the San Francisco Bay Area. An early interest in writing and advanced reading skills eventually lead to her becoming a staff writer for her high school paper, the Daily Bugle (McKinley High, Honolulu, HI) one of the nation's only four such daily High School papers at the time. By the time she moved to San Francisco at age 19, she had two self-published books of poetry and was a frequently published poet in local community newspapers and reading poetry around town. She was even profiled in a San Francisco Chronicle article about up-and-coming poets in the beatnik tradition. Over the years she's written numerous articles for local and community papers, non-profit and corporate newsletters, poetry and lyrics and novels.
