From the author of Good Seats Still Available comes Substitute Thoughts, Kelly Hay's second collection of published poetry. This second compilation is seemingly an about-face from the first, delving into subject matter the reader merely glimpsed before. Good Seats was, for the most part, an encouraging exercise in hope and belief, purpose and love. But Substitute Thoughts takes the reader on a different journey, exploring the darker side of the human mystery, our depressions, our addictions, our heartache. It has been said "painting is silent poetry, and poetry painting that speaks " [Simondes].In this collection, Hay paints an intimate portrait of life in the darkest shades of midnight from whence humanity's most discouraging nightmares come alive.
