Author: Ruebl, Joshua

The poems in The Secret Half are a collection of places, dreams, horrors, and souls. They are the synthesis of traveling, spirit, and fantasy as the author makes sense of America. From the deserts of Arizona and the frozen north of the upper midwest, to the urban desert of Los Angeles, these writings reveal somnambulists looking for human connection in the emptiness of the modern world.Conceived as incantations, these poems are to be spoken or read to create an effect on the environment. They are intended to blur the separation of dream and reality in a purifying ritual for the confusion of our age. Similar poets include Arthur Rimbaud, Michel Houellebecq, Elfriede Jelinek, Charles Bukowski, Dennis Cooper, and Jean Genet. For more information on the author, visit his site www.joshuaruebl.net.
