An open road stirs up feelings of adventure and excitement. It brings out the spirit of exploration in all of us. There is always something new and different around every turn. People in the Bible followed roads to adventure or heartache and some, to a new life filled with joy and peace beyond comprehension. Their stories provide inspiration or caution as you follow along with them on their chosen road. Curtis E. Nester is a retired pastor and lives at Smith Mountain Lake in Virginia. He and his wife, Louise (a quilter) enjoy kayaking on the beautiful lake, near the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains. He continues to teach Bible studies and preaches whenever the opportunity arises. He previously authored Faith Will Keep You Afloat, a book about water, and people involved with it in the Bible.
