Collected from theaters across America, this new ten-minute collection of 23 plays reveals the power and pleasures of this tightly knit form. These plays can be gathered into an evening of short works for production -- an event that's becoming popular in the American theater -- or they're ideal for the classroom. They offer the same challenges to student actors as longer plays do (creation of character, the arc of action, development of relationship, and interpretation of theme) and are an alternative to scene work, since each script is dramatically complete. Plays that received original productions at Guthrie Theater, Actors Theatre of Louisville, City Theater in Florida, and McCarter Theater are included. A lot of dramatic territory is covered by these plays, so there's sure to be something here for everyone.
