The pounding of the cylinder as it was driven a hundred feet into the earth and the roaring flame that melted steel beams as it shot hundreds of feet into the air could be felt and seen for miles around. Federal agents and Air Force personal were sent to investigate the cause of such a powerful force. Having learned from equipment in the cave that the elements in the cylinders could be turned into a weapon so powerful it could, in fact, destroy the world. Dave refused to divulge the location of the cave until the agents would agree to destroy the cylinders. The agents demanded full disclosure immediately and would make no agreement as to what would be done with the cylinders. When he refused, they proceeded to bug his house and tailed him and Stacy everywhere they went. This led to several wild chases and some angry confrontations before they finally agreed to keep the location secret. Once he escorted the agents inside the cave, they betrayed his trust and forced Dave to make the ultimate and final decision about his discovery.
