Since its first publication, Asking the Fathers has been acclaimed as a classic introduction to the spiritual life in the Christian tradition. A book to read again and again. The author has succeeded in a remarkable way in opening up the main themes of Christian spirituality while introducing us to many of the greatest exponents of the tradition. This is a book which makes the past real and living for us now. A. M. Allchin, Honorary Professor in the School of Theology and Religious Studies, University of Bangor Opens up a mass of wisdom culled from the spiritual writers of all ages of the Church's history, much of it inaccessible to the non-scholar.
