When Lauren Kean and Francesca Bianco became best friends on the first day of school in the seventh grade, they didn't realize they would share a lifetime of triumphs and struggles-from their fondest dreams, to sensuous romances, high-profile careers, globe-trotting adventures, handsome men, and murder. Lauren fulfills her ambition to become a doctor, settles into her New York practice, and marries brilliant psychiatrist Kenny Stevens. But her life is turned upside down when Kenny is murdered, and she becomes a thirty-year-old widow. At the same time, Francesca makes a name for herself in the international fashion world as a top designer based in Rome. After a lengthy relationship with the wealthy and handsome Marco DiGiovanni, Francesca instead marries successful Italian lawyer, Roberto Casadei. But dark secrets, revolving around Kenny's murder and Marco's business dealings, threaten to destroy Lauren and Francesca's longtime friendship and their lives. Many suspect that Marco hired someone to kill Kenny to get to Lauren and will do anything to prove it. Allowing trust, resolve, and love for one another to guide them, Lauren and Francesca navigate several interesting twists of fate and restore their hopes, dreams, and friendship.
