What drives someone to spend a decade hunting for hidden treasure? For Justin Posey, featured in Netflix's Gold & Greed: The Hunt for Fenn's Treasure, it began with bedtime stories about lost Spanish gold and secret tunnels, and evolved into an obsession that merged old-world adventure with modern technology. While other treasure hunters stuck to sensible tools like maps and metal detectors, Posey merged his tech expertise with his outdoor skills, writing algorithms to analyze facial micro-expressions and training a bronze-sniffing dog-and he had to outrun a grizzly or two.Beneath this wild story of adventure lies a deeper journey of self-discovery. This heartfelt memoir is about growing up in a loving, raucous family where treasure hunting was normal dinner conversation, about pushing obsession to its limits, and about discovering that understanding the person behind the hunt is often the clearest map to the gold. Having acquired the very treasure he spent 780 days failing to find, Posey has hidden his own sixty-pound collection of historical artifacts, spanning from gold bars and precious gems to cryptocurrency and a rock from outer space, with hints scattered throughout these pages.
