An attempt to the classicalbiological against Maruca vitrata(a key cowpea insect pest)in Benin is made with the introduction from Taiwan of the parasitoid Apanteles taragamae. The work described in the present book evaluated the potential of the parasitoid as biocontrol agent with special emphasis on its reproductive capacity, functional response, climatic adaptability, host foraging capacity and non-target effects. The results revealed that A. taragamae was suitable biocontrol agent against M. vitrata.
