1983. In the year before Orwell's chilling totalitarian prophecy, the only thing darkening the normally sunny skies of Southern California is a relatively unknown weather phenomenon called "El Nio". With the coming of the 1984 Summer Games to Los Angeles, it seems everyone has caught Olympic Fever. Everyone, except Tyler West.Aroused by memories of happier times when his family was intact, Ty searches for a way to make his mark upon the world. Propelled into a difficult quest by a dismissive P.E. teacher, Ty struggles to push himself to his physical limits. In an attempt to reconcile his father's absence, Ty finds himself locked in pitched battle with a supremely talented rival; the questionable agenda of a peer-pressuring best friend; and worst of all, his sister's near addiction to "Little House on the Prairie". So catch a New Wave and take a radical trip back to the Awesome 80's-an era when Duran Duran and the Go-Go's ruled the airwaves and kids spent their afternoons gobbling blue ghosts by the dozens. Coming From Nowhere is an exciting, coming-of-age adventure about the lofty rewards of hard work and the mercurial nature of success.
