"All kinds of rugs fill these pages--at the front of the book as blueprints for ideas; sprinkled throughout...as illustrations for certain textural points; and in one chapter as companions of four styles of color and texture. Tips come in all shapes and content, such as three ways to fashion human and pet eyes. The stories...fit in seamlessly...10 designs..."--Booklist. "Rug Hooking...is simple, but the result can be priceless folk art. Richly illustrated with full-color photos of the rugs of more than 50 hookers, this is an "idea" book focusing on how experienced rug hookers create their own unique rugs by adapting existing patterns, designing theme borders, employing decorative lettering, and using rugs to tell stories about their lives and...of those around them. Of special interest are the fascinating glimpses of the same pattern as interpreted by different rug hookers. There is a small selection of attractive projects and patterns, but the book encourages readers to go beyond beginning projects and develop a unique hooking style. Warmly recommended for public libraries and textile collections."--Library Journal.
