Rosa Montero boldly portrays the story of Ana, a woman who must fulfill the demands of a job as a magazine editor, take care of her son and navigate the nocturnal life of a convulsed Madrid at the end of the 1970s. Crónica del desamor is the authors first novel; it is also a work that is key to understanding the concerns of a generation that felt powerful and disoriented at the same time, a generation that had not yet learned how to manage their freedom without hurting one another.
