Drawing on the authors' combined experiences, this edition of Developing and Administering an Early Child Care Center, 5E presents the basic philosophies and interpersonal aspects of directing and administering an early childhood center. It is intended for use in college courses in Early Childhood Administration, and also lends itself to courses offered by professional organizations for current or prospective directors. The book bases its chapters on major aspects of developing and administering a program for young children and addresses the core issues while giving consideration to the experiences of those in the field. The chapters are written to read and follow with ease, and provide elements that engage students in active learning. One of these elements, Reflections, presents topics under discussion and offers a venue for students to gain experience from. A feature called Director's Corner illustrates chapter themes with vignettes relating real-life examples and experiences of directors. Exercises and assignments included in each chapter help students bring the chapter information together and apply its principles. The Director Resources offer forms that can be copied and used, and The Director's Library, located in the back of the text, gives suggestions on further reading materials. Web sites references are also listed throughout the book.
