Heavy drinking, fast cars, and watching sports all day is not a fair description of most males, according to registered psychologist John P. Theis. Dr. Theis's experience as a therapist for men has led him to very different conclusions. In trying to stay ahead of the professional rat race, men ignore the pain in their lives by indulging in such activities instead of taking time to discover their hurt-scars, intentional or not, from their father-son relationship. Fathers and Sons will help you understand what happened and what might be done about a failed father-son relationship. Implementing an accessible approach, Dr. Theis offers many examples to show the importance of how a good father and son relationship can validate instead of wound. He then provides the tools men need to develop their father-son relationship-whether with their own father or their son-in spite of the pressures in their life.Using clinical studies and research to validate his conceptualizations of this significant connection, Dr. Theis offers a valuable guide to those who are fathers, plan to be one, or want answers to the dynamics of their own father-son relationship.
