Good reels usually have identification on them. Prices can fluctuate up to 50%, according to the demand of antique tackle. One thing to remember is that the better items keep getting more valuable and the common items stay about the same. Reel and lure sets (items of one company's production) and sets of all the individual reels produced of one type, should be at least 25% more valuable. The values in this book are rated as to excellent condition, although the items pictured might not be. Rarity, demand, condition and age determine value. Keep in mind that the higher the number of items found and in circulation, the lower the value is. A true collector obtains tackle for love of the hobby and not for the investment. The only common denominator that everyone understands is putting a dollar value on it. Good finds of antique fishing tackle are hard to come by and more people are collecting the 1940's, and later. In this book the lures are indexed alphabetically by manufacturer and by common name. The reels are indexed by manufacturer only.
