What a great gift for lovers of the links! Amateur golfer-and Club Captain-Ed Harris presents a thoroughly entertaining and informative introduction to the origins and history of the game. He follows golf as it spreads from Scotland to the U.K., U.S., and wider world, and looks at equipment, clothing, clubs, famous courses, top tournaments (including the Masters), and key players past and present. An entire chapter covers women golfers, while others explore golfs supervisory bodies. And those who enjoy a good golf tale will find fun stories aplenty about snobbery and obsession in the sport, plus trivia and jokes.
