This encyclopedic work is more than an impressive collection of first-rate history writing on a range of critical historical issues. It's also a "Festschrift" tribute to the life and work of a great American writer and thinker. The many contributions -- by former colleagues, students and friends, including James J. Martin and Murray N. Rothbard -- range from documented essays to mellow memoirs. Harry Elmer Barnes (1889-1968), American historian and sociologist, was one of the 20th century's most influential scholars. During the final decades of his life, he came under ever more stern rebuke for his adroit debunking of official claims about World War II and the Cold War. With dust jacket, photos, bibliography and index.
