Product Description Beth MacLaird, the beautiful daughter and apprentice to a skillful doctor, is prepared to fill-in as town doctor in Winona, Minnesota, while her father and brother serve the Union Army. But Captain Adam Brentwood, in search of the Army doctor he believes to be a criminal, is totally unprepared to fall in love with Beth. War rips apart Beths family, as it does so many mens bodies, until finally the lady slips into mens clothing and marches onto the gruesome battlefield herself in an attempt to put back together as many lives as possible. But will Adam ever recover the wildflower he lost? And can they ever be the same again? About the Author Donna Gail Weber (1951-2012) was a Navy nurse, a Civil War aficionado, and the mother of two boys (with her youngest child on the way), when she began this work in 1983. She became a nurse practitioner and developed a busy practice in the service of beloved patients. They expressed hope of returning to her care almost until the very end of her second struggle with breast cancer. She died without ever quite being satisfied with her one and only novel, which she had shared, apparently, with no one. The present volume includes contributions from her daughter, Juliana.
