Product Description Memories is a memoir of a southern boys early life and education through medical school. The book spans the years from 1938 through 1964. Childhood in Raleigh, N.C. . . . Saturday mornings as a museum rat in the Natural History Museum . . . Boy Scouts and eating dust at the 1953 National Jamboree . . . Two summers as an instructor at a Girl Scout Camp . . . Needham Broughton High School . . . Dodging the freshmen football players at Cobb Dorm in UNC . . . A year at the University of Gttingen in Germany . . . Slogging through Duke Medical School . . . Unlucky in love . . . A religious metamorphosis . . . From the Author Memories was written for my grandchildren, a collection of stories and anecdotes concerning the life of an unremarkable individual, their grandfather. I am ignorant of most of the events of my father and mother's life because by the time I was mature enough to ask the questions, both had died. I intitially tried to remedy this with my own grandchildren by telling them stories of "when I was a little boy," but once that phrase was uttered, my granddaughter would roll her eyes and say, "Oh Bubba, not another one." Perhaps someday she will be interested, but in writing this memoir, at least I had fun recalling or trying to recall things that happened to me. Some of the names of individuals have been changed. About the Author Robert C. Noble, a retired professor of medicine at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, resides in Poland, Ohio with his wife, Audrey. Bob was born in Raleigh and graduated from Needham B. Broughton High School, the University of North Carolina, and Duke Medical School. At present, he is a professional grandfather and writer.
