Over 40 species of primates, ranging from the squirrel-like tree shrew, woolly monkey, and thick-tailed galago, to the chimpanzee, gibbon, mandrill, and massive gorilla are depicted in this beautifully illustrated book by artist John Green. Forty-two highly realistic, anatomically correct line drawings include two double-page spreads. Some illustrations feature a single animal, others show mothers carrying their young and still others comprise "family portraits."The fascinating creatures pictured in this volume include apes (closest to man in physical structure and intelligence); Old World monkeys (baboons, guenons, langurs, etc.); New World monkeys (capuchins, sakis, howlers, etc.); and the relatively little-known prosimians (tarsiers, lemurs, galagos, and lorises). An informative essay introduces the great families of monkeys and apes, and individual captions present coloring information along with common and scientific names, dimensions and weight, habitat and geographic distribution, food, habits, and other important data. Here's an exceptionally entertaining and educational coloring book for young people - a perfect follow-up to a visit to the zoo. Monkeys and Apes Coloring Book is also an inexpensive source of royalty-free primate renderings that commercial artists and illustrators will want to add to their professional libraries.
