The time he spent in the US Navy was indeed as an engineer, which made the engineering portion of this book easy as well as fun and memorable to write. While in the Navy, John spent time on several western Pacific cruises along with his brother, Rick. He was stationed overseas for a few years and served on three different ships. After leaving the Navy, John served as a civil servant. John now resides in Florida with his wife, Melissa. John and Melissa have five children: Elijah, Crystal, Ronald, Charles, and Gwendolynn. They also have adopted a granddaughter named Jenna.
