Here are Eugene Epstein's most popular and endearing tales about the Swiss and their ways from his first two books ('Once Upon and Alp' and 'Lend Me Your Alphorn') that best depict his American/Swiss wry humor, keen observations and infectious sense of fun.He thought Zurich was not far from the Swiss capital of Stockholm when he first came to Switzerland, but with perseverance he even learned to pronounce Chuchichaeschtli, play Jass and feel the Foehn almost like a real Swiss. It may no longer be so difficult to lose your bicycle in Switzerland, but many of his observations of skiing, joining Swiss clubs, discovering fondue, learning Swiss-German, and other escapades still ring true and will keep readers giggling for another generation.
