Based on his experience as a trial lawyer, Austin conceived the idea for the film as a way of illustrating the trial of life that each of us must go through. The expert witnesses included in the film are all individuals whose writings over the years in one way or another have shaped or touched Austin and have contributed to the perspective and approach to life that Austin now teaches in his own programs. After creating the idea for the film, Austin went on the road with a film crew and over a 6 month period met with each of the experts and engaged them in a provocative and in-depth interview regarding a variety of topics about life and their perspectives. He then wrote a script for the film, intricately weaving the segments of the interviews that appear in the film today. He then went in search of a Director to bring his idea to life, and life brought him Scott Cervine. Scott brought with him many great ideas and guidance on how to bring the philosophy that Austin had captured in his interviews to life. Austin then wrote the narrative for the film, and Scott went to work bringing that narrative to life by finding amazing set locations, great actors to fill the roles, and creative art direction that gives the film its color and soul.
