This fascinating, rare book contains a hugely detailed guide on the subject of gems, written by W. Goodchild and originally published in 1908. This comprehensive gemmological handbook covers almost everything one might want to know on this sub-branch of mineralogy, and comes complete with wonderful drawings and photographs, as well as an interesting chapter on artificial stones by Robert Dyke. Chapters comprised within this text include: Introduction and Historical, Modes of Origin, The Physical Properties of Gem Stones, The Cutting of Gems, Imitation Gems and the Artificial Production of Precious Stones, The Diamond, Spinel and Chrysoberyl, and many, many more. A must-have for anyone with an interest in gemmology, this rare text has been elected for modern republication due to its timeless educational value, and is proudly republished here with a new introduction to the subject.
