When Lisa Sanderson, a young Boston attorney, is called by her aunt to visit Rowe, Vermont, where she, her uncle and brother live, she can hear the fear in Aunt Chloe's voice. As soon as she arrives in Rowe, piloting her small airplane, she can see the problem: thugs "on the lam" from other crimes have taken over the small town and are terrorizing its citizens. Some have already moved away. Drunken mischief on the town common soon turns to violence, theft, rape and murder. Lisa makes friends with the town doctor and the two try to curb the growing threat, but inevitably the protagonists enter a chilling scenario where mayhem conquers and normalcy falters. Read the book and discover the wrenching turns of plot before Lisa can bring sanity back to the townspeople and to her own life.
