Product Description Rifts and Fault Lines watches the unfolding of its characters as they interact with each other either in person or in memory. The title refers to the topographical and emotional effects of a particular family's dysfunctional ways of being in the world. A young, untried woman named Livy marries into this family and steps onto the uneven terrain, at first trying to take a reasoned look at it. Attempting to adapt to this family almost brings her down, until finally, after much turmoil, she breaks through to a newly developed sense of self. She lives. She learns. She isn't brought down. But can anyone really repair this emotional landscape? About the Author Cynthia Fisk has been a writer, willy-nilly or not, since her earliest days. Living with her mother, who was a librarian, she may have lacked the presence of a father and brothers or sisters, but books came as close as possible to taking their place. Led along by the lure of words, she majored in English Language and Literature at Mount Holyoke. Later in life, she earned her M.Ed. in Counseling at Tufts University. Work as a school counselor, and then as a social worker, revealed to her the sorrow and its redemptive qualities present in all of us. Cynthia is the author of three novels and numerous short stories, essays, columns, and poems. Her writing career has been obscured by being widowed twice, her loss of a dear son to AIDS, and the enthusiasm with which she continues to join political frays with endless hopefulness.
