Product Description This is a novel set in the early and late '50s when a young teenage boy around 13 is confronted with the unpleasant memories of his past when his stepfather suddenly arrives and disturbs his peaceful, happy existence on Mt. Lake and in subsequent trips to the mountain reunites and entices him to a wealthier lifestyle than he has been living with his mother and baby sister on Mt. Lake. It all comes full circle when he finds himself living again the simple happy life he had  lived before when his stepfather suddenly leaves them for good. In North Avenue, he is 17 and standing at the entrance to the driveway to his mother's family house in Waincross, New Rochelle, trying to understand why he had quit high school and enlisted in the service as he relives his life from 15 on that has turned him away from his family and life with an indifference he can't understand. But it is in the end a story of teenage angst controlled by the forces of love and hate he balances out on an imaginary seesaw he has built for himself. From the Author One of my main reason for writing this novel was to try to understand and come to terms with a part of my teenage years that was troubling. I lived happily on a mountain in northwestern Connecticut with my mother and baby sister when I was 13, 14 and 15 and attended the local elementary school until my stepfather came back into our lives. He was at that time a fairly well known international banker who had a drinking problem he refused to accept. It wasn't fun living with him at times and finally he left us for good. However, I think his behavior in the US and overseas when we were living with him contributed in a way to the growing alienation and distrust I was beginning to feel at 16 and in a way contributed to the teenage problems I was then having. From the Back Cover This, a story about teenage angst, is about how the forces of love and hate can create that mood when they compete with one another on an imaginary seesaw. About the Author My name is Hendrik Sadi. I grew up in southern Norway in the 1940s and lived in Cairo, Egypt, Istanbul, Turkey and Beirut, Lebanon in that order between the ages of 10 to 13. I served in the US Coast Guard for 4 years when I was seventeen and attended Columbia University where I also worked as a research technician in the late 1960s. I have always loved reading fiction throughout my life and have been influenced a lot in my writing by William Faulkner and Knut Hamsun, though I did not start seriously writing until I was in my late thirties when I wrote my first novel, Kickapoo.I invite you to visit me at my website ernholder.com.
