Product Description A multi-voice, fully dramatized recording -- enhanced with dazzling sound effects Experience Spider-Man as never before! The amazing Spider-Man launches into his most harrowing adventure as a trip to Florida turns into a deadly race to prevent disaster! The Lizard is wreaking havoc throughout the Everglades, as he seeks a cure for his dual identity as the reptilian villain and the human scientist Dr. Curt Connors -- the result of an experiment gone horribly wrong. Spidey's attempts to halt the Lizard's rampage lead him to a web of intrigue and danger that may spell the destruction of a space shuttle launch. The action heats up as Venom, the alien symbiote who wants Spider-Man dead, arrives, targets the Lizard for death, and won't let anyone stand in his way! Spider-Man must save the shuttle, halt the Lizard's rampage, and keep Venom from destroying the Lizard and the helpless scientist trapped inside him...before it's too late! About the Author Diane Duane is a mainstay on theNew York Times bestseller list. She is the author of such novels asSpock's World, Dark Mirror, and the popular Wizard fantasy series. She has written two other novels featuring Spider-Man,The Venom Factor andThe Octopus Agenda, and is hard at work on a hardcover novel featuring the X-Men. She lives in Ireland with her husband and several cats. From AudioFile This is a fully realized performance of Duane's book, and, like the original comic book series, it's fast-paced, vapid, exciting and loud, with ridiculous dialogue and fantastic situations. It's just what it purports to be. The background sound effects are particularly realistic, from swamp noises to a gantry at Cape Canaveral, with many bullets in between. The characters...well, if you were pining at home with your child for a husband who has turned into a big lizard and can't turn back, how would you behave? The actors do the best they can with writing that, given the premises, is pretty good. D.W. (c)AudioFile, Portland, Maine
