Departure" - science fiction or prophecy? Millie Spencer is torn between her morality and the enlightened manner of dealing with terminal illness in the year 2050. When husband Jon is diagnosed with a baffling fatal disease, can Millie stand by and watch him suffer a horrifically painful, long-drawn-out death? Yet, how can she condone euthanasia? Isn't "Departure", after all, just a fancy name for suicide? Rich in characterization, we empathize with Millie and her family as they endure this crisis. Intertwined throughout this engaging tale is the heart-rending love story of son Sean and his mysteriously alienated wife Karen. This futuristic tale is guaranteed to arouse in the reader the fearful question: what if this science fiction someday became reality ... how would I deal with "Departure"?
