After an attack on the Prime Minister, John Fuller is re-assigned to JTAC - the Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre - to investigate the source of the monstrous Stabu menace and help rid the planet of it. Jim Naylor accidentally foils a bank robbery. One of the gang - Frank Jackson - is injured in the getaway and blames Naylor, vowing to kill him. But there is another reason he wants Naylor dead. Naylor is the one person who can stop Jackson using his schizophrenic powers to plunder the multiverse. Bob Jenkins is developing an "Eye" - a machine to monitor people's dreams. The potential is to eventually monitor their thoughts. But these are not dreams that his patients are having. When Naylor accepts Jenkins' offer to become a patient of his and wakes up in John Fuller's world, he realises that he has more than the Prime Minister to protect - now he has become a Stabu target himself. And all the while Nature is working to restore the balance. As one solution becomes inadequate for the job a more definitive process is needed. Something massive - and final - that will destroy millions of people across the multiverse. And the process has started.
