The Dynamic Marching Band is designed to provide information and stimulate thought and further study on the exciting world of the contemporary high school marching band. The target audience is the college music education major preparing to be a band director and the young director already "in the field." Veteran directors will likely find new information and new ways of thinking about the activity and perhaps get a dose of motivation and renewed vigor. "Author Wayne Markworth, former Director of Bands (Centerville High School, Centerville, Ohio) is the architect behind the nationally acclaimed Centerville band program. This text is filled with tried-and-true suggestions that are not only conceptual, but also proven.proven by a lifelong teacher who brings a wealth of personal knowledge to the forum. The history of the Centerville bands serves as positive proof of the immeasurable value of the thoughts-and-suggestions shared within this thoughtful and sequential blueprint. One can use this text as a resource guide, an idea library, an embellishment to the existing curriculum, but-most importantly-it offers the critical road signs to successfully traverse the pathway-of-quality. This is not a book to be read and then put on the shelf, but rather it is one that will serve as an ongoing reference to be tapped time-and-time again; keep it within close reach."
