A rich and well-paced novel about hope, redemption, and friendship in the face of uncertain timesWhen Qwertec Solutions falls victim to downsizing and layoffs, a group of former work colleagues find themselves in a somber meeting at a local Dublin pub. Bonding over their recent job losses and their love of the silver screen, highly strung Katherine, odd Alice, stressed-out Lisa, dishonest Jamie, and emotional Martin decide to meet once a month to watch and discuss their favorite classic films. Spirits rise and friendships form over the course of a year as each group member embarks on a personal journey-reflected in part through the films chosen for their monthly meetings. Film plots bolster a witty and light narrative in this blend of soul-searching and escapism, weaving a story of unlikely friendships, unexpected change, coming to terms with the past, and bravely facing the future.
