This teaching comes to the attention of the mayor of Blakely who will do anything to prevent this from happening. Master Poet leaves Blakely; but Little Girl, with the help of her friend Max, reads an "Important Notice," which changes everything. About the Author The author attended a one-room mountain school as a boy in the early 1940's. After retiring he taught adults how to read. The Master Poet was written based upon these experiences. Later, he worked with international students and wrote a Guide to the Pronunciation of American English. He has used his Guide to teach conversational English in seven different foreign countries as well as in the United States.
