The real fireworks began where least expected: in front of several hundred witnesses at an aging western movie set turned theme park in the mountains west of Tucson. The park's main attraction is the mock fight and gun battle presented by stuntmen attired in authentic Old West garb. The gunfighters' last performance of the afternoon stuns the audience when a man is shot and killed. Sheriff's Detective Marcos Mesa is a man proud of his sturdy Mexican-American roots. He knew the victim, a fellow law enforcement officer. That makes this case a cop killing. Mesa's hardworking, dedicated detectives plow through a troubling maze of believable leads. This is a gripping tale of police work filled with high drama. In this book you will meet detectives who, like their boss Sheriff Barney Bravo, are proud of their record for solving cases quickly, before the leads turn cold.
