Product Description Against the backdrop of world events that occurred during the 60 years between the 1947-48 formation of Israel, through the Oklahoma City bombing and 9/11, to Israels war on Gaza in 2008, our heroes and heroines endeavor to aid peace and the humane treatment of all people everywhere. Shelly and Kendra meet as Christian Peace Team members (CPT-ers) in Jerusalem, become lifelong friends, and discover love and romance as they start their families and seek to make the world and America live up to their highest ideals. They must reevaluate their lives, religion, values, and goals as their lives are changed because they make the necessary sacrifices demanded by peace. They meet a king and leaders, survive being shot and trampled, uphold family obligations, and foster the preservation of the true Bedouin horses of poetic and lyrical distinction along the way. Join Shelly, Kendra, et al. in their journey, and experience the highs and lows of living a life that makes a difference. About the Author Debra L. Dirks and Stephanie Parlove became neighbors and friends in 1987. Over the years their endeavors have included the preservation of the pure desert bred Arabian horse, co-founding the Arabian Horse Historians Association and the Bani Sham Association, co-authoring many articles and co-editing and co-authoring the nonfiction book Islam Our Choice-Portraits of Modern American Muslim Women. This book was published in 2003 by Amana Publications and includes both authors' personal stories. While the authors no longer share a fence line, living in separate states at this time, they have continued to work on projects together. Not only have they traveled to the Middle East together; they have traveled to Indonesia together to aid Hope 4 Our Children, a NGO, to modernize and rebuild a orphanage on Sumatra Island after the tsunami struck that region in December of 2004. In this latest book they share some of the personal warmth and strength of character that has enriched their lives and friendship. Currently both are involved with elder care. While Stephanie has returned to college and is majoring in history, Debra is giving lectures and speeches which you can learn more about at the website jeralddirksanddebradirks.com.
