The Ferenczi-Groddeck Correspondence, available here for the first time in English, bears witness to the friendship that developed between these two physicians and psychoanalysts during Ferenczi's visits to Groddeck's sanitarium Marienhohe in Baden-Baden, and at the same time reflects the history and development of psychoanalysis during the 1920s and early 1930s.It is a warm, intensely personal, human, and informal correspondence, which offers insights into the working methods and endeavors of both men. Consisting largely of Ferenczi's letters (since few of Groddeck's have been preserved), the book also includes colorful extracts from letters written at Marienhohe by Frederic Kovacs to his wife Vilma, herself an eminent psychoanalyst, pupil, and friend of Ferenczi in Budapest. Additionally, the volume includes the introduction to the original edition of these letters, first published in French in 1982, by Judith Dupont, psychoanalyst, translator, and editor of Ferenczi's complete works in French. Ample notes by Christopher Fortune provide the background to this correspondence.
